97. Crash Test Dummies—THE GHOSTS THAT HAUNT ME

This is a kind of strange record that might be a bit dated. Few may remember this Winnipeg, Manitoba, group. But there is something about lead vocalist’s Brad Roberts’s deadpan comic seriousness and the mellow orchestration that still makes me smile. “Superman’s Song” is the cut that lingers (and I didn’t realize until I saw the official video [linked below] that is was a funeral eulogy). Several other songs, though (such as “The Ghosts that Haunt Me” and “At My Funeral”) are surprisingly thoughtful.
