95. R.E.M.—DOCUMENT

My favorite of many fine R.E.M. albums. Document signaled the band’s emergence as something very big. The single “The One I Love” was their first big hit. Other great songs included “Finest Worksong,” “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine),” and “Welcome to the Occupation.” But for some reason, my favorite song on the record has always been “Oddfellows Local 151.”
